Family Services North Shore

Counselling for children and youth ages 2-19 who have experienced sexual abuse and/or assault. Counsellors use a combination of art, sand tray, and talk therapy with clients.

Children Living in the Midst of Relationship Violence & Abuse

Family Services North Shore

Counselling for children & adolescents under age 19 who are coping with the stress and fear of watching a parent’s violent and abusive behavior. Sessions may include time with the non-violent parent. This program is short term and runs for approximately 3-6 months.

Clinical Counselling

Family Services North Shore

Clinical counselling services for children and youth, offered on a sliding fee scale. Therapy is a combination of talk and play methods.

North Shore Youth Safe House

Hollyburn Family Services Society

​

The North Shore Youth Safe House is a safe and secure place where youth, 13 to 18 years old can stay, utilizing an Integrated Case Management approach to meet the complex and changing needs of the youth within our community.

 

Youth have 24/7 access to caring and friendly youth workers, nutritious meals, a clean room and bed (shared rooms), showers, and laundry. A stay at the Safe House can be up to 14 days with a possible extension, depending on the motivation of the youth to work towards his/her goals.

Youth also have access to:

  • Parent-teen mediation.

  • Drug and alcohol assessment provided by Vancouver Coastal Health.

  • Referrals to medical help, mental health support, education and vocational counselling.

  • On-going and after care support.

Operating on an open referral process, accepting referrals directly from youth (self-referrals), family, friends, and community service providers. *Note that in order to approve a youth for in-take they will be required to speak to the youth directly and complete a basic screening.

This program offers short-term counselling (10-weeks) aimed to support women who are managing the effects of relationship abuse on themselves and their children.
