Employment Training Programs

YWCA Metro Vancouver

YWCA LEADS program offers specialized employment services for survivors of violence and/or abuse. Participants receive support in group and individual sessions for a period of up to 12 weeks. The program assists participants in finding and maintaining employment, economic sustainability and enhancing wellness through five pathways:

  • PATHWAY ONE: Recognizing, Understanding and Overcoming the Impact of Abuse.

  • PATHWAY TWO: Survivor Traits and Strengths.

  • PATHWAY THREE: Survivor Discoveries and Career Options.

  • PATHWAY FOUR: Beyond Survival.

  • PATHWAY FIVE: Renewing Employability Experiences.

Battered Women's Support Services

AWARE helps women move out of the cycle of trauma and violence through employment. The program helps women to identify their skills, interests, and to develop personal and career goals.  AWARE helps women alleviate isolation, learn, and grow together in a classroom setting. The AWARE Program Curricula contains the following components:

  • Recognizing, understanding, and overcoming the impacts of abuse.

  • Individual exploration.

  • Counselling & coaching.

  • Career Exploration.

  • Employment Skills.

  • Academic Development.

  • Participant Support.

  • Clothing & accessories.
