Seniors First BC (formerly BC Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support) is  a non-profit charitable organization located in British Columbia, Canada that is committed to:

  • Protecting the legal rights of older adults;

  • Increasing access to justice for older adults;

  • Informing the public about elder abuse; and

  • Providing supportive programs for older adults who have been abused.

Seniors First BC

Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) is a safe place for older adults, and those who care about them to talk to a trained intake worker about abuse or mistreatment. By calling SAIL, you can receive information and support about issues that impact the health and well being of an older adult. This service is available from 8am to 8pm daily, excluding holidays.

Seniors at Risk Housing

Hollyburn Family Services Society

​

The Hollyburn Seniors at Risk Housing outreach program provides assistance to seniors 55+ that are homeless, or at risk of losing their housing (eg. facing an eviction notice). This includes seniors with complex needs around health, mental health, addictions, elder abuse, and financial management. Outreach workers assist seniors with a housing search, filling in applications, connecting them with other services, as well as any other assistance needed to achieve housing stabilization. The work is individualized and time intensive, as it usually takes up to three months to stabilize the crisis situation for each client.

Atira Women's Resource Society

​

Ama Transition House is accessible to women 55+. The services offered include advocacy, referrals, and one-to-one support, there is also an on-site senior women's outreach program. The length of stay is 30-180 days.
